Khaberni - Israeli media outlets disclosed striking statements by the Chief of Staff of the Israeli military during the mini-cabinet (Cabinet) meeting, where he warned of unprecedented pressures facing the military institution, which could push it towards an “internal collapse”.
According to Israel's Channel 12, the Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir emphasized that he is raising "ten red flags" to the ministers, indicating the magnitude of the accumulated challenges facing the army, including a manpower crisis and the expansion of security tasks in several arenas, not just in Iran and Lebanon.
Zamir pointed out that the army suffers from a severe shortage of soldiers, amid the absence of a new recruitment law, alongside the continued heavy reliance on reserve forces through emergency orders, complicating the meeting of increasing operational needs.
In the same context, the commander of the Central Region in the Israeli military, Avi Blot, presented a complex field situation to the ministers, indicating that the expansion in establishing settlements over the past year in the West Bank, including dozens of outposts and farms, has imposed a new security reality requiring additional military reinforcements.
Blot added that these developments, along with the escalation of what he described as "national violence", are draining a significant part of the army's capabilities and operational focus.
