Khaberni - A 9-year-old girl was bitten by a snake in the Mujib Dam area, part of Karak governorate, leading to serious health complications.

A medical source said that the snake that bit the girl was a "saw-scaled" viper, which is venomous, and this occurred while she was playing in the Mujib Dam area, placing her hand inside the snake’s burrow looking for a snail.

In detail, the middle finger of the girl suffered two bites, causing severe swelling in her hand, as well as a rise in the level of toxins in the blood to the highest degree.

The snake expert, Ibrahim Abu Al-Harith, said that Saudi serum was provided for the girl, and she remained under medical observation for six hours until the level of toxicity decreased from 12 to 1.8, with improved swelling in the finger.

He continued that the girl was transferred to Al-Bashir Hospital for a hand cleaning operation, adding that there is a possibility of amputation of the finger due to suspicion of gangrene resulting from poisoning.

According to the girl's father, her general condition is good.
