The Ministry of Interior stated in a statement: "After thorough investigations and continuous field monitoring, the Criminal Investigations Division in the Damascus Countryside has managed to arrest a gang involved in the theft of the famous bank in Syria, where the gang capitalized on the circumstances of the events during the liberation period, and proceeded to steal quantities of gold and large sums of money from inside the bank".
The ministry added that "the operation resulted in the arrest of several gang members, including two women, after careful monitoring of their movements and the collection of evidence that enabled the identification of their identities and locations".
It was confirmed that "a part of the stolen items, which included quantities of gold and money, was recovered, in addition to the seizure of a house and two cars that the gang had purchased using the stolen money".
The ministry indicated that the necessary arrest warrants were organized for the detainees, who were referred to the competent judiciary to receive their fair punishment according to the law.
