The authorities revealed that "Javier. S" had been living with his 80-year-old mother Antonia in an apartment in the Santa Catalina area of the city of Palma before her lifeless body was found on her bed, while the radio and the fan were still operating beside her.
According to police reports, the son confessed that he taped his mother's room door with insulating tape to try to hide the smell from the decomposing body, claiming that his mother had died about a month ago, and he had been living since then on biscuits, rice, and chickpeas she had bought before her death.
The neighbors said they had not seen Javier for many years, while he confirmed to the police that he had not left his home for the entire eight years, relying entirely on his mother to provide food and take care of their daily needs.
The discovery of the crime came after a neighbor informed the police of Antonia's absence for weeks, prompting the forces to head to the location and discover the corpse inside the closed apartment.
