Khaberni - The investigative authorities have decided to refer former Egyptian national team player Ali Ghazal to criminal trial on charges of defrauding a businessman and embezzling his money.
The competent investigative authorities referred Ali Ghazal, a star of the former Egyptian national team, to criminal trial following his accusation of defrauding a businessman, in a case that has sparked wide controversy within the sports and legal circles.
Lawyer Mohamed Rashwan explained that the trial session for Ali Ghazal and his partner Mohamed Derdir has been set for December 9 before the Fifth Settlement Misdemeanor Court to examine the charges against them.
Earlier, the Fifth Settlement Misdemeanor Appeal Court had upheld an absentee verdict sentencing the player to three years in prison after being convicted in cases of fraud and embezzlement of money from several citizens.
Rashwan added that the defense team has officially requested the relevant authorities to seize the funds of the accused following the issuance of the verdict, confirming that the case is still under legal follow-up pending a final judgment.
