Khaberni - FC Barcelona announced on Wednesday the extension of their contract with Frenkie de Jong, which will see him continue with the team until the summer of 2029.
De Jong (28 years old) joined Barcelona from Ajax in 2019, with his previous contract set to expire in the summer.
Barcelona stated on their website: Midfielder Frenkie de Jong has extended his contract with Barcelona until 2029, with the Dutch player signing his new contract in the presence of president Joan Laporta.
It added: Despite an injury-ridden start under coach Hansi Flick, the Dutch midfielder, when fully fit, quickly became a key player in the German coach's lineup. In the 2024 - 2025 season, De Jong featured in 46 matches for Barcelona, scoring two goals.
De Jong has played in 250 matches with the Spanish club, winning two league titles and two Copa del Rey titles, and participated in six out of eight matches played by Barcelona this season under Flick's leadership.
