Khaberni - A recent national Saudi study revealed the superiority of the "Moderna" and "Pfizer" vaccines in stimulating the immune system and generating high levels of antibodies against the COVID-19 virus, compared to other vaccines, confirming the efficiency of the national vaccination programs in Saudi Arabia and their success in boosting community immunity during the pandemic.
Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Abdullah Assiri, through his account on the "X" platform, stated that the study is "purely Saudi", describing its results as "honorable and based on a precise scientific methodology", indicating that all vaccines have proven their high effectiveness, however, the mRNA vaccines — with Moderna at the forefront — demonstrated the strongest immune response.
Details of the Research and its Scientific Methodology
Researcher Dr. Mariam Al Issa explained in her talk with "Alarabiya.net" that the study published in the international journal Vaccines aimed to evaluate the serological responses of three vaccines used in Saudi Arabia, namely: Pfizer, Moderna, and AstraZeneca.
The study included 236 participants, both citizens and residents, from various age groups, where samples were collected from vaccination sites in Riyadh during specific stages before and after the first and second doses, in addition to samples from infected individuals after vaccination.
Al Issa noted that the analyses showed a significant increase in antibody levels after vaccination, with the average rising from about 350 units/mL before vaccination to more than 18,600 units/mL after the second dose, reflecting the strong immune response achieved by the two vaccines based on mRNA technology.
