Khaberni - The newspaper "Marca - Mexico" reported on Tuesday that Club America is looking to bolster its squad with a heavy-weight striker from Europe, amid coach Andre Gardini's dissatisfaction with the current attacking line.

The newspaper indicated that America, which aims to regain its dominance on the "Liga MX," is suffering from a lack of scoring effectiveness. The attacking quartet (Henry Martin, Jose Zuniga, Rodrigo Aguirre, and Victor Davila) has only scored 6 goals out of the 24 goals the team has scored in the "Apertura 2025" championship. The newspaper attributed this decline to injuries and fluctuations in the performance of the mentioned players.

Icardi is the awaited solution
According to what the newspaper reported, quoting transfer expert Ekrim Conor, the solution to the problems of the capital’s club lies in Argentine striker Mauro Icardi from Galatasaray.

The reports confirmed that Club America is interested in signing the veteran striker (32 years old), who has an excellent scoring record, having scored 66 goals and provided 20 assists in 96 matches he played in Turkey.

Icardi, whose contract ends in June 2026, has a market value of approximately 8 million euros, according to "Transfermarkt" data.

It is worth mentioning that this is not the first time Icardi's name has been linked with clubs in the Mexican league, as there have been previous whispers of interest from Pumas and Rayados teams.
