Khaberni - Kaja Kallas, the European Union's foreign policy chief, said on Monday that the bloc has started funding a special court to try Russian President Vladimir Putin and other senior Russian officials.

According to Kallas, the charge that will be directed at the Russian officials is committing crimes of aggression against Ukraine, urging other countries to follow the EU's example.

She added during a press conference in Kyiv alongside Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy: "We have established this special court for crimes of aggression, but we are also now providing funding for this court."

She went on to say, "We also call on other member states and countries and participants to fund it so that work can actually begin in full because without accountability there is no just and lasting peace."

In response to a question about the American Tomahawk missiles which President Donald Trump recently said he might send to Ukraine if the war is not settled, Kallas said that it is up to Kyiv to decide if they are needed for self-defense.

She added, "It is not our place to decide what Ukraine really needs, but it is their responsibility to determine their needs."
