Khaberni - The College of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences at Petra University participated in the opening and events of the First Specialized Pharmaceutical Youth Forum, organized by Dr. Mandala, and sponsored by the regional office of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (EMRpharm-FIP), in partnership with the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) and the Jordanian Pharmacists' Syndicate.
The college was represented at the forum by the Dean of the College of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences, Professor Dr. Riyadh Awad, and the Head of the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Practice, Dr. Dirar Bela'awi, who participated in a panel discussion titled "From Education to Practice".
The session discussed the pivotal role of universities in preparing pharmaceutical professionals, mechanisms to link academic education with practical application, and promoting innovation and entrepreneurship among students, enabling them to specialize in modern fields such as therapeutic nutrition, oncology pharmacy, and healthcare quality. The importance of updating curricula to align with international standards and the latest developments was also emphasized to ensure the graduation of pharmacists qualified to lead the future of the profession.
The forum was attended by more than 300 participants from students, academic experts, professionals, and decision-makers, in an event that represented a unique platform for exchanging ideas about the future of the pharmacy profession and professional development in the region.
The "Oncology 5" team from the College of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences at Petra University won first place in the competition held on the sidelines of the forum, including the students:
Sara Shouqi (fifth year), Tala Raed Magharbeh (fourth year), Tala Al-Abd Halwah (fourth year), and Asma Nael Abdul Rahman (fourth year).
The team won a training grant for ten days at the Shifaa Al-Orman Hospital for Oncology, one of the largest specialized hospitals in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
The participation of the College of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences at Petra University reaffirms its commitment to enhancing effective communication with trade unions, regional and private sectors, supporting efforts to empower pharmaceutical youth, and establishing the pharmacy profession's position within the national healthcare system.
