Khaberni - New York City witnessed a horrifying crime when a 16-year-old girl returned home after a long school day to find an unimaginable scene inside the bathroom, after her older brother told her that he "did something bad."
According to the "New York Post", the girl followed scattered blood trails around the house until she reached the bathroom, where she found the decapitated body of her mother's boyfriend, aged 45, in the bathtub, with a knife still embedded in his neck. She immediately called the emergency police of the "West Brighton" area on Staten Island.
Initial investigations indicated that the victim worked in public sanitation and was preparing to retire due to severe vision impairment, which made him an easy target for the perpetrator.
New York police forces arrested the 19-year-old son at the scene after his sister reported him. Sources mentioned that he has been suffering from long-term mental health issues, and he told his sister when she returned from school that he had committed "something bad".
Despite the family having a record of domestic disputes, a neighbor named Mariano Castro (36 years old) stated he never noticed any apparent tension between the perpetrator and the victim, saying, "I always saw them together in the garden, mowing the lawn or barbecuing, and I never saw them fight, so what happened is completely shocking."
For his part, a friend of the victim, Luis Ortiz (47 years old), described the deceased as "the kindest person in the world," saying: "He was a cooperative person who helped everyone unhesitatingly, and I can't believe I saw my friend's house on the news."
Ortiz confirmed that the son had been facing recurring psychological crises during his school days, expressing regret that he did not receive adequate help in time.
While footage from the crime scene showed the suspect leaving the house with bloodstains on his shoes, New York police investigators continued their work inside the bloodstained house, as investigations are still ongoing to uncover the circumstances and motives of the crime.
