Khaberni - Evening sessions were held in the Egyptian city of Sharm el-Sheikh on Wednesday, as part of discussions to end the war in the Gaza Strip, on the third day of talks aimed at finalizing an agreement according to a 20-point plan by U.S. President Donald Trump, according to Cairo News.

Cairo News stated that the atmosphere in the sessions regarding reaching an agreement is "positive."

It pointed out that the Hamas delegation "showed great flexibility during the ongoing talks," where the movement's delegation presented the positivity and responsibility necessary to achieve the required progress and complete the agreement.

The Egyptian and Qatari mediators entered a consultation session with the American delegation led by Steve Witkoff, Middle East envoy, and the Israeli delegation led by Ron Dermer, Minister of Strategic Affairs.

It added that the extended session includes the head of the Egyptian General Intelligence Directorate, the Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the head of the Turkish Intelligence Agency Ibrahim Kalin, Trump's envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, and the Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer.

The talks focused on "mechanisms for the handover of living and dead Israeli detainees, in exchange for Palestinian prisoners in the occupation jails, maps of the Israeli withdrawal, and the introduction of aid with the commencement of the ceasefire, and handing over the management of the sector to an independent Palestinian competencies committee." However, Hamas also demanded clarification of the mechanisms and necessary procedures for implementing Trump's plan and guarantees to prevent Israel's return to aggression against Gaza.

Hamas and the mediators exchanged lists of prisoners requested to be released, based on the agreed standards and numbers.

The American president's plan to end the war in Gaza includes a clause stipulating that "once all detainees are released, Israel will release 250 life-sentenced prisoners, in addition to 1700 Palestinians from Gaza arrested after October 7, 2023, including all detained women and children in that context. For every Israeli detainee whose body is returned, Israel will release the remains of 15 Palestinians."

The negotiations come following Hamas's agreement to release all detainees in the sector in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners.

A leader in Hamas said that the movement's delegation in Egypt seeks to overcome all obstacles to achieving a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip that meets the aspirations of the Palestinian people, adding that they have dealt with high responsibility with the ceasefire proposals in Gaza, most recently Trump's plan.

Trump said that once an agreement is reached to end the war in the Gaza Strip, "we will do everything we can to ensure everyone complies with it."

Negotiations began in Sharm el-Sheikh on Monday, October 6, 2025, with four hours of indirect discussions between the delegations of Hamas and Israel. The indirect discussions continued in a "positive" manner on Tuesday and were followed by the sessions of the negotiations on Wednesday through several morning sessions.

Trump had published on Monday, September 29, 2025, a 20-point plan to end the war in Gaza, which still requires the approval of the relevant parties, and specifically stipulates that he will head a committee overseeing the transitional phase in the sector.
