Khaberni - Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Engineer Salem bin Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Amman Arab University won first place for the educational institutions category in the Arab Award for Social Responsibility and Sustainability for the year 2025 in its eighteenth session, organized by the Arab Network for Corporate Social Responsibility (ARABIA CSR) in Dubai Emirate. Representing the university at the awards ceremony were: Professor Mohammad Al-Widian, the president of Amman Arab University, and Mr. Bassam Al-Basha'ira, the university advisor for community responsibility.

The ceremony recognized leaders in business and community responsibility from across the Arab world, where Ms. Habiba Al Marashi, the founder and CEO of the Arab Network for Corporate Social Responsibility, highlighted in her opening remarks that the award, which started in 2008 as a simple appreciation program for institutions in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, has evolved into a leading Arab platform that combines appreciation, knowledge, and capacity building in the field of sustainability. Al Marashi added that the number of award categories has expanded from three at inception to sixteen, covering various sectors of the Arab world. She noted that the current edition witnessed the participation of 141 applications from 109 institutions representing ten Arab countries, including 41% new institutions showing a growing commitment to sustainability and social and environmental governance standards.

On this note, Dr. Al-Widian expressed his pride in this achievement that embodies Amman Arab University’s vision to be a model of institutional leadership. He affirmed that this crowning comes as the fruit of collective and integrated efforts, reflecting the university's commitment to sustainability principles and community responsibility, and its approach to developing an educational environment that meets future aspirations and serves the local and regional community. Al-Widian stated that this win is not an end in itself, but a motivation to continue working on embedding a sustainability culture in various aspects of education, research, and community service.

In turn, Mr. Al-Basha'ira pointed out that Amman Arab University’s win in this prestigious award reflects its firm commitment to adopting best practices in sustainability and community responsibility. He explained that this achievement results from a comprehensive strategy set by the university to embed a culture of giving and responsibility in its academic and administrative system, adding that the university has implemented several distinctive initiatives targeting student empowerment and enhancing their role in community service, alongside projects concerning the environment, energy, education, and volunteering, asserting that this Arab recognition serves as a renewed incentive for the university to enhance its pioneering presence and continue its journey towards institutional creativity and excellence at both local and regional levels.
