Khaberni - The Spanish city of Ceuta witnessed a strange incident, when a migrant managed to enter European territory in an unusual way, after gliding by parachute from Moroccan territory and crossing the aerial border, landing within the coastal city overlooking the Strait of Gibraltar.
Security surveillance cameras recorded the moment the migrant entered from the air, prompting the Spanish Civil Guard forces to immediately head to the area where the parachute had landed.
Upon their arrival, they found only the colorful landing gear which the person had abandoned after carrying out the act, while no trace of him was found, according to "The Sun" newspaper.
This incident is the first of its kind in the border region between Morocco and Ceuta, where most crossing attempts usually focus on climbing iron fences or swimming long distances towards the Spanish beach.
The reports stated that the migrant flew over Mount Musa in Moroccan territory before landing in the Sidi Ibrahim area within Ceuta, a region frequented by hikers and mountain biking enthusiasts.
The Spanish authorities began an extensive investigation to determine the identity of the migrant whose nationality is yet to be known, and whether he is of Moroccan origin or from countries of sub-Saharan Africa.
The newspaper reported that he is a young man in his twenties, and suggested that he chose this timing to coincide with the transfer of batches of migrants from temporary shelter centers in Ceuta to mainland Spain, which facilitated his attempt without immediate detection.
The authorities had previously received warnings about the possibility of using light flying equipment by some migrants after clips circulated on the "TikTok" app showing infiltrators trying parachutes in Moroccan areas near the border.
Local newspapers revealed that some groups posted guides illustrating the points that are "most vulnerable" in the border wall, raising concerns about the repetition of these attempts in the future.
