Minister of Agriculture Free Olive Oil Testing

Khaberni - The Ministry of Agriculture launched the national campaign on Tuesday at its official headquarters to educate citizens about purchasing olive oil from reliable sources. This took place during a coordination meeting chaired by the Minister of Agriculture, Saieb Khreisat, attended by representatives from regulatory and technical bodies, as well as partners from official institutions, professional associations, and community organizations.

This campaign operates under the slogan: "Test the olive oil and make sure it is guaranteed," aiming to protect Jordanian consumers from fraud and deception, and to enhance citizens' confidence in the high-quality Jordanian olive oil, which is a pillar of food security and national agricultural identity.

The Minister of Agriculture confirmed that the campaign is part of the national efforts coordinated between the Ministry of Agriculture and regulatory bodies. He noted that it will include the provision of free testing at some agricultural directorates and the National Center for Agricultural Research, in addition to implementing awareness media campaigns, distributing educational materials, and organizing the National Olive Festival and a rural products exhibition.

Khreisat emphasized the importance of purchasing olive oil from reliable sources such as licensed mills, known farmers, and accredited commercial centers, urging citizens to ask for the commercial invoice and to test the oil before purchasing. He warned against being misled by deceptive advertisements that spread through social media.

The meeting was attended by representatives from the Food and Drug Administration, the Standards and Specifications Institution, the Public Security Directorate/Cybercrime Unit, the Customs Department, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the National Center for Agricultural Research, the Royal Scientific Society, the General Federation of Farmers, the General Syndicate of Press Owners, and associations concerned with olive oil.

The Ministry of Agriculture assured that it will continue the campaign throughout the olive pressing season, encouraging citizens to engage with it to ensure they obtain high-quality, guaranteed olive oil, reflecting Jordan's leading position in olive production regionally and internationally.
