Khaberni - The appearance of a leopard inside a tourist hotel in Indonesia caused a state of panic among the guests, after the predator roamed the corridors of the building before rescue teams intervened and managed to control it in a dramatic scene, causing a wide stir on social media.
The incident occurred on Monday morning in the city of Bandung, the capital of West Java province, which is one of the most tourist-attractive areas in Indonesia. The guests of a major hotel were surprised to find a leopard on the second floor of the building, specifically in front of one of the rooms.
The hotel management quickly evacuated the passageways and informed the relevant authorities to protect the guests.
According to statements by Agus Arianto, head of the Environmental Conservation Agency in West Java, the rescue teams used a tranquilizer dart to safely capture the animal, noting that the operation took a long time, due to the leopard's movement inside the passageways. Ultimately, after sedation, it was transferred to a specialized center where it gradually began to regain consciousness.
The source from which the leopard came is not yet known, but suspicions suggest that it may have escaped from a zoo located about five kilometers away from the hotel, the same area that witnessed a similar leopard escape in August last year, which was not found at the time.
This incident reminds us of previous animal escape incidents in Indonesia, the most notable being in 2021 when two Bengal tigers escaped from a zoo in West Kalimantan after part of their cage collapsed due to heavy rain, resulting in the death of a guard and several animals.
