Turki Al Sheikh hints at the possibility of hosting a Spanish league match

Khaberni - President of the General Entertainment Authority in Saudi Arabia, Turki Al Sheikh, hinted at the possibility of hosting a Spanish league (La Liga) match during the sixth edition of the Riyadh season.

Turki Al Sheikh spoke to Saudi media, including the programs "Dorina Ghair" and "Action with Walid," on the sidelines of a press conference yesterday Sunday, saying: "The Riyadh season gathers many sports events, not only boxing but many things, like paddle tennis, tennis, and American football."

He added: "We are now studying the possibility of hosting a match from the Spanish league, from the same league in the Riyadh season, but we are still in the negotiation phase."

When asked whether the Riyadh season would sponsor one of the global or Saudi clubs, he replied: "Everything in its time is sweet."

Last August, the Spanish Football Federation announced its approval of a proposal to hold a match between Barcelona and Villarreal within the 17th round of the "La Liga" competition this season in the United States.

UEFA announced in an official statement its approval to hold the Villarreal vs Barcelona match in Miami, as well as the Italian league match between Milan and Como in Perth, Australia.

However, the European Football Union "UEFA" expressed its opposition to the idea of holding local league matches abroad, stating that allowing the two matches is "regrettable" and should not be considered a precedent.
