Khaberni - The flying car has always been a dream that haunts the minds of inventors and car engineers, and a cornerstone in science fiction movies and future visions. But this dream seems closer today than ever before, with the year 2025 witnessing a fierce competition between technology and engineering companies to make a qualitative leap in transportation.
After decades of attempts, several companies are close to launching vehicles that combine the capabilities of traditional driving and actual flying, and can travel on public roads, enter garages, and then take off within minutes.
An "Interesting Engineering" report reviewed the top 7 flying cars leading this technological revolution:
1. PAL-V Liberty.. the pioneering Dutch
PAL-V Liberty is the world’s first licensed flying car, based on the principle of the gyroplane, combining a sleek three-wheel design and high performance. It reaches speeds of up to 160 km/h on the road and 180 km/h in the air, with a flight range of up to 500 km. Prices start at $399,000 and go up to $599,000 for the luxury Pioneer edition.
2. Alef Model A.. the first certified electric flying car
Alef Model A achieved a historic milestone by obtaining the first airworthiness certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration.
It features a driving range of 200 miles and a flight range of 110 miles and can be parked in regular spots. Although its speed on the roads does not exceed 25 mph, it is designed for quick transition through the air and is expected to be priced at $300,000 in late 2025.
3. AirCar.. the Slovakian masterpiece
The AirCar by Klein Vision transforms from a car into an aircraft in less than two minutes and reaches speeds of 249 km/h in the air.
It has successfully flown over 170 hours, and its price ranges between $800,000 and $1 million, making it one of the most advanced models on the market.
4. Samson Sky Switchblade.. sporty with three wheels
With its sleek dynamic design, the Switchblade reaches speeds of 305 km/h in the air and a range of 450 miles.
It can transform from driving mode to flying in just 3 minutes and its price is about $170,000, making it an ideal choice for speed and innovation enthusiasts.
5. Aeromobil.. the luxury of vertical takeoff
Aeromobil offers a blend of luxury design and advanced technology, with speeds up to 200 km/h while flying.
It is expected to be priced around $1 million, with plans to deliver it commercially soon to become a means of transport between cities and even countries.
6. XPeng X2.. the Chinese ambition
The XPeng X2 is a two-seater electric flying car designed specifically for congested cities.
It reaches speeds of 130 km/h and is characterized by light weight and vertical takeoff capabilities, marking a significant step in developing urban aerial mobility.
7. ASKA A5.. family-oriented with future technologies
The ASKA A5 combines vertical takeoff and short landing capabilities and includes four seats with a flying speed of 150 mph and a range of up to 250 miles.
Its pre-sales exceeded $50 million after being showcased at the 2023 Electronics Expo, reflecting market enthusiasm for this new category of vehicles.
