Khaberni - Mohammad Shaker, son of Lebanese artist Fadel Shaker, commented on his father’s step of surrendering himself, on Saturday evening, to the Lebanese army at the entrance of Ain El-Hilweh camp in Sidon, southern Lebanon, after more than 13 years of residing in the camp and being pursued legally, in a step described as a significant development in the course of his case.
Mohammad Shaker posted a brief phrase on the "story" feature on Instagram, which read: "Indeed, with hardship comes ease.. no matter how narrow the path, God’s relief is closer than you think."
At his concert last Friday in Dubai, Mohammad Shaker spoke about his father, Fadel Shaker, and greeted him, after singing his famous song "Ya Ghaib," amid great interaction from the audience.
According to Lebanese media, the army intelligence received Shaker at the Al-Hasaba checkpoint at the entrance of the camp around 9 PM, after prior security coordination and assurances regarding the safety of the surrender process, in preparation for referring him to the relevant judicial authorities to reconsider his file.
A natural legal course
Mohammad Shaker had earlier stated that his father intends to surrender himself "when the suitable conditions are available," affirming his confidence in the Lebanese judiciary and its ability to do him justice, indicating that this step represents the natural legal course to prove his innocence of the charges attributed to him.
The artist's son also touched on the suffering that the family had endured over the past years, noting that his father "was subjected to campaigns of defamation and great injustice," adding: "After 13 years of suffering, some still believe the accusations, but we trust that God will eventually reveal the truth."
