Khaberni - Jerash Greater Municipality has received an Italian grant worth 1.8 million dinars aimed at connecting the archaeological city with the urban city and developing the city's commercial center, according to the chairman of Jerash Greater Municipality, Mohammed Bani Yasin.

Bani Yasin stated on Saturday that the project includes the development of the city center, the Hashemite plaza, and the old market, in addition to removing visual pollutants represented by improperly installed billboards, and employing commercial storefronts to harmonize with the aesthetic character of the city.

He added that the municipality will work on maintaining the pavement and extending electrical networks, and constructing pathways for people with disabilities and concrete benches, along with establishing 7 kiosks inside the Hashemite plaza, and installing informational signs and green elements to enhance the urban scenery of the city.

Bani Yasin explained that the municipality has set up an office inside the craft city, which spans about 70 dunams, to provide services to tenants, noting that the municipality will expand the city to 100 dunams to relocate other professions like carpentry and blacksmith shops to the new site.

He pointed out that the municipality recently carried out cleaning campaigns, maintenance of lighting, and expansion of the entrances to the craft city, affirming that these measures are part of the project to connect the archaeological city with the urban city which contributes to improving the general scene and enhancing tourist movement in Jerash.
