Khaberni - The Syrian Civil Defense announced control over a fire at the historical Salah ad-Din Ayyubid Citadel and the surrounding forests in the Haffeh area in Latakia countryside, indicating that the fire has entered the cooling and monitoring phase, with ongoing situation monitoring.
Syria TV, on Saturday, quoted the director of the Civil Defense Directorate in Latakia, Abdel Kafi Kial, saying that the civil defense teams in the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management dealt with several scattered fires in the area, but the fire at Salah ad-Din Citadel was the toughest among them.
The fire broke out at the historical Salah ad-Din Ayyubid Citadel and its surrounding forests in the Haffeh area of Latakia countryside on Friday, where firefighting teams from the Syrian Civil Defense and fire brigades, supported by Ministry of Defense helicopters, worked to control it and limit its spread, especially since the steep, rocky nature of the area hindered direct ground response.
Kial pointed out that the efforts to extinguish the fire took more than six continuous hours.
