Khaberni - In recent years, Egyptian drama and cinema have also witnessed films and dramatic works by stars and celebrities, but the surprise was that their direction fell to these stars' children.
A few days ago, the actress Rogina announced that she will participate in the upcoming Ramadan drama race with a series that will have different events, but the surprise she revealed is that the work will be directed by her daughter Maya Ashraf Zaki, who is experiencing directing for the first time, after working as an assistant director in four previous series, namely "Kalabsh", "Valentino", "Bent El Sultan", and "Masar Egbary".
Although Maya Ashraf Zaki's directing experience is not yet complete, her mother decided to give her that chance, which could be her gateway to shining in the world of directing.
Rogina was not the first star to star in a work directed by her daughter, as several stars have bet on their children's talents in this challenging profession, most notably the artist Yahya Al Fakharani, who decided in 2012 to give his son Shady Al Fakharani a golden opportunity by entrusting him with the direction of the series “El Khawaga Abdel Qader”, and after he succeeded in the test, Shady directed three other works for his father, named "Wanoos", "Dahsha", and "Nagy Zahi Zarkash".
However, what is strange is that Shady Al Fakharani has not presented any television or cinematic works after those experiences, and so far he has only limited himself to those works that were under the name of the star Yahya Al Fakharani.
As for the artist Adel Imam, he was also among the stars who were enthusiastic about their children's directing talents, giving his son Rami Imam a chance by directing the play "Body Guard" for television. This enabled him to take a bigger step by directing the film "Amir al-Zalam" which starred his father and was released in cinemas in 2002, after which he moved away from the leader and directed several successful films, including "Booha", "Ghabi Meno Feeh", and "Kalashnikov".
Rami Imam met his father again in 2008 through the film "Hassan and Morqos", and remained the special director of Adel Imam's works until the latter's retreat from art.
As for the artist Mahmoud Al Jundi, he was among the stars who participated in artistic works directed by their children, but the case with him was different, as the famous star participated in only one film directed by his son, "The Third World War", and decided thereafter not to participate in any artistic works signed by his son, so that people would not assume that his son was mediating for his involvement, or imposing him on the artistic work and forcing the heroes to accept his presence.
What is strange is that the artist Mahmoud Al Jundi had expressed his anger in his later years due to the scarcity of works offered to him, and despite that, he remained refusing to participate in the artistic works of his son.
The same happened with the artist Nabil Al Halafawi, whose sons worked in directing, and became among the most famous directors, namely Khaled and Walid Al Halafawi. However, the famous star only participated in one work directed by them, the film "Tasleem Ahali" which was released in 2022, and featured a minor role by Nabil Al Halafawi, directed by his son Khaled Al Halafawi.
The late artist Ezzat Abu Auf was enthusiastic about his daughter Mariam's talent, helping her enter the field of directing and supporting her in her first cinematic work which she directed, the film "Bibo & Beshir" produced in 2011, where the late artist decided to support her by starring in the work.
Abu Auf also starred in the series "Embratoria M" which aired in 2014, and was directed by his daughter. However, he distanced himself from her after she became known in the world of directing, until his death in 2019.
