Khaberni - A recent study has shown that consuming soft drinks reduces about 12 minutes of healthy life per serving, while consuming hot dogs reduces it by 36 minutes, whereas one ounce of nuts and seeds adds 25 minutes to your life.
The study was conducted on more than 5,800 types of food in the American diet by researchers at the University of Michigan, and its results were published in the journal Nature Food.
The results indicated that replacing 10% of your meat consumption with vegetables can add about 48 minutes of healthy life daily per person.
Furthermore, switching to whole grains, fruits, vegetables, nuts, legumes, and some sustainable seafood instead of red and processed meats provides tangible health benefits, according to "Mirror".
The Impact of Food on Health and the Environment
The researchers analyzed each type of food in terms of ingredients, then evaluated their impact on health using the Global Burden of Disease data and studied the environmental impact of foods through IMPACT World+, starting from production and preparation to consumption and waste.
The researchers encourage the inclusion of nutritious and environmentally friendly foods in the diet, such as fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts, and sustainable seafood, while reducing the consumption of processed meats, beef, shrimp, and vegetables grown in greenhouses.
Olivier Jolliet, one of the researchers, said: "Small, targeted substitutions offer an effective strategy for achieving significant health and environmental benefits, without needing to make radical changes to the diet."
