Khaberni - Media reports indicated that the head of the Syrian Journalists Syndicate, Mazen Al-Natour, has decided to ban the broadcast of any artistic work involving the actress Sulaf Fawakherji on Syrian screens, justifying this due to her position on the current authority, considering it "a justification for the crimes of the defunct regime."
This decision comes months after Fawakherji was dismissed from the artists' union due to her political positions and statements rejecting terrorism and extremism, which sparked widespread controversy across the media.
According to Syrian media, the decision was not surprising, especially since Al-Natour had stated in a previous interview that he did not intend to ban any Syrian artist from appearing in artistic works, citing actor Bassem Yakhour. However, he indirectly hinted at Sulaf Fawakherji, considering that her political statements had reached "the maximum limit" and did not align with the new direction of the syndicate.
Reactions on social media varied between mockery and support, with some followers suggesting that the issue goes beyond mere political positions, hinting at personal disputes between Al-Natour and Fawakherji, while others saw the decision as correct, renewing their demands for her prosecution, should she decide to return to Syria, as if she were accused of crimes against Syrians.
Earlier, the Artists Syndicate in Syria had surprised everyone in April last year, when the official page of the Artists Syndicate on "Facebook", Damascus branch, posted an official statement including an image of the decision issued with the signature of Mazen Al-Natour, head of the artists, based on Law No. 40 of 2019, and in accordance with the internal regulations of the Artists Syndicate.
