BYD aims to increase its global exports to 20 this year

Khaberni - South China Morning Post reported on Monday that the Chinese electric car manufacturer BYD expects exports to account for about 20% of its global sales this year, driven by the launch of new models.

BYD expects to sell between 800,000 and one million units outside mainland China in 2025, compared to a total expected sales of 4.6 million units, according to the newspaper, quoting Li Yunfei, the brand's general manager and head of public relations.

This confirms an earlier report this month from Reuters stating that BYD has cut its 2025 sales target by up to 16% to 4.6 million cars, as the Chinese electric car company faces the slowest annual growth in five years, among other indicators that its era of record expansion might be nearing an end.

Li said, according to South China Morning Post: "International sales operations will contribute more in the coming years," adding that BYD’s fleet of car transport ships has aided in boosting exports.

The newspaper added that in 2024, BYD's sales outside mainland China constituted less than 10% of the total deliveries which amounted to 4.26 million transactions.
