Khaberni - The Morocco vs Spain match at the U20 World Cup marked the first appearance of the green card in men's football competitions.
The International Federation of Association Football "FIFA" decided to test the green card, which was previously adopted in some women's competitions, during the tournament held in Chile. It allows the technical director to challenge the referee's decision during the match and request a video technology review up to twice per match.
During the Morocco vs Spain match, the technical director for "Atlas Lions" Mohamed Wahbi used the green card after the referee awarded a penalty to the Spanish in the 78th minute.
The referee complied with Wahbi's request and reviewed the decision via a video clip, subsequently reversing the penalty and issuing a yellow card to the Spanish player.
According to "RMC", the experience is expected to be generalized in competitions organized by the International Federation of Association Football.
The match ended with a victory for Morocco (2-0), leading the group with 3 points, two points ahead of Brazil and Mexico, who drew (2-2) in the same round.
The next match for Mohamed Wahbi's boys will be against Samba dancers next Wednesday.
