Khaberni - The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the offensive chants against Egypt, which were repeated by some individuals on the sidelines of a solidarity stance with the Palestinian people in Gaza, in a swift diplomatic step.
The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that such reprehensible actions do not reflect the feelings of the Syrian people "towards brotherly Egypt, its leadership, and people" and that they represent only those who committed them.
The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its regret that some took advantage of this isolated incident in an attempt to disrupt the deep and established brotherly relations between Syria and Egypt.
The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated its great appreciation and respect for Egypt and its generous people, who have hosted hundreds of thousands of Syrians over the past years.
The statement emphasized the dedication of the Syrian Arab Republic to strengthening the bonds of Syrian-Egyptian relations, adherence to them, and its absolute rejection of any attempt to offend them.
The statement came after the widespread distribution of a video on social media platforms, showing a limited group in Damascus chanting slogans carrying insults to Egypt and President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, which sparked a wave of anger in Cairo and calls for a Syrian boycott.
