Khaberni -Vancouver International Airport, one of the largest in Canada, was briefly closed following information about a "hijacking" of a small plane, according to authorities.
The police said they received a message around 13:10 stating that a "Cessna 172" single-engine, four-seater plane "had its course altered from Vancouver Island area and was approaching the airspace surrounding Vancouver International Airport" in western Canada.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police clarified in a statement, "The suspect was the only person in the plane and was arrested without any notable incident" shortly after the plane landed, less than an hour later, the police added without further details.
Additionally, the flight paths of 9 scheduled flights were altered, which were supposed to land at Vancouver Airport, as stated in a statement from the airport, which noted that plane landing operations were halted for 39 minutes.
