Khaberni -After rumors circulated about a Syrian series depicting the life of Syrian President Ahmad al-Shar'a directed by Rasha Sharbatji, Rasha issued a statement through her social media accounts clarifying the matter.
Syrian director Sharbatji briefly stated on the "story" feature on her official Instagram account that "the circulated news is completely untrue, and there is no project or official agreement in this regard," emphasizing that what is published on this matter is nothing but inaccurate rumors.
While some sites were busy promoting the supposed work, Sharbatji revealed her preparations to launch a new series titled "City Kitchen," scheduled for the Ramadan 2026 season, without disclosing further details about the cast or story.
Sharbatji had previously announced that Samer Ismail had apologized for one of the roles in the series, which was assigned to artist Milhem Bashar, while she has not yet disclosed the identity of the actress who will replace Sulaf Fawakherji, who officially apologized for participating in the work scheduled to be filmed in Damascus, without explaining the reasons.
The series "City Kitchen," written by Ali Wajeeh and Saif Reda Hamid, takes place in the heart of the capital Damascus, where the camera captures the life of a family running a popular restaurant, and their daily details intertwine with social and psychological conflicts reflecting the concerns of the city and its youth.
Inability to Conceive
In a separate context, in a candid interview on the "Kalima" podcast, Syrian director Rasha Sharbatji revealed a personal aspect of her life, announcing that she is unable to conceive, stating that she discussed the matter clearly with her husband Ibrahim Al Sheikh, who expressed his full support for her saying: "I love you more than any child," and Sharbatji commented "I am rational, and if he wants to have children later, he has the right, and I might adopt".
In response to recent statements by Syrian artist Abdel Moneim Amayri, who said that Sharbatji "is not a reference in directing," she said: "Amayri has a kind heart, and I cannot exclude him from my works."
