Khaberni -Some websites have reported that a number of YouTube app users on iPhones have recently complained of scam messages claiming their devices were infected with malware.
According to available information, some "YouTube" users on iPhone devices, when launching the app, received false warning messages stating: "Your iPhone is infected with 247 viruses".
For her part, Renee Patrone, Vice President of Cyber Threats at Infoblox, mentioned on her LinkedIn page that a "scary" message appeared to her when she tried to watch a video on "YouTube", which indicated that "her phone would completely crash, its SIM card would disable, and all photos and contacts would be deleted from the phone unless she clicked on an option to install a certain app". However, clicking on the mentioned option led to the App Store to download an app "to clean" the phone from unnecessary data.
Tech experts indicate that the mentioned scam messages have successfully deceived a significant number of "YouTube" users on iPhones, and that the app led by these messages currently ranks fiftieth in the "Productivity" section of Apple's app store.
Both Google and Apple are currently facing a lot of criticism due to this issue, as some wonder how Google allowed these messages to be published on the "YouTube" platform, and how Apple kept the app in its store after user complaints.
