Khaberni -The parliamentary administrative committee emphasized the need to develop job advertisement terms and evaluation and selection mechanisms to ensure equal opportunities.
This was stated during a meeting held by the committee, on Monday, chaired by MP Mohammed Salameh Al-Ghuwairi, in the presence of the head of the General Administration and Service Authority, Fayez Al-Nahar, to discuss several issues related to employment mechanisms in the public sector.
Al-Ghuwairi stressed the importance of regularly reviewing job advertisements and application conditions, and updating the criteria for exams and interviews, all contributing to enhancing the efficiency of the competitive process and ensuring fairness for all applicants.
He pointed out that the committee had previously submitted a set of recommendations in this context, calling for enhanced joint efforts between the Authority and related institutions to develop the appointment procedures.
The deputies: Jameel Al-Dehaisat, Abdul Basit Al-Kabariti, Khalifa Al-Diyat, Wissam Al-Rabihat, Ibrahim Al-Sarrayreh, Ahmad Alimeat, Feryal Bani Salman, and Naseem Al-Abadi raised several inquiries concerning the nature of the exams, the number of questions, their distribution, the selection mechanism for specializations, and the time allotted for the tests.
Their interventions addressed the mechanism of forming interview committees, the importance of developing relative weights between the exam and the interview to match modern standards, and enhancing transparency in announcing results.
On his part, Al-Nahar confirmed that public sector appointments are based on a competency approach, and that the advertisement terms are set according to the requirements of the requesting entities and are subject to the Authority's scrutiny before being approved.
He explained that competitive exams are designed to measure technical and knowledge competencies, and behavioral aspects, prepared by specialists, and the evaluation weights are distributed with 80 percent for the exam and 20 percent for the interview, with the possibility of adjustment depending on the nature of the job.
He affirmed that the interviews aim to assess the behavioral aspects of the candidates and are supervised by the Authority, noting the Authority's commitment to protecting the exam bank and the results of the applicants in coordination with the competent authorities, to ensure the security and transparency of the competitive process.
