Khaberni - Channel 12 Hebrew reported that Benjamin Netanyahu promised Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich to resume the war against Hamas in Gaza after the ceasefire agreement currently being negotiated in Doha.
According to the channel's report, Netanyahu told Smotrich during recent meetings: "After the truce, we will relocate the residents in the sector to the south and impose a siege on northern Gaza."
Smotrich demands guarantees from the Prime Minister that the war in Gaza will be resumed in full force after the ceasefire ends, according to what the "Times of Israel" reported.
According to "Channel 12", Netanyahu proposed in closed meetings Israel's plan to separate civilian populations in Gaza from Hamas and concentrate them in the southern strip of the sector as a humanitarian necessity, to allow the continuation of the fighting after the temporary truce.
Netanyahu assured Minister Smotrich that he would honor this promise, pointing to the preparations that preceded last month's confrontation with Iran as a reason for not meeting Smotrich’s previous expectations regarding the destruction of Hamas.
The channel quoted the Prime Minister saying to Smotrich: "Until now I have been occupied with the Iran file, but now I will dedicate myself to ensuring the army complies with my instructions."
Earlier on Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said his government accepted the proposal made by Wytkoff for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and then the modified version proposed by the mediators, accusing Hamas of rejecting the American proposal.
Netanyahu added in a videotaped statement he posted on his "X" platform account: "What does Hamas want? They want to stay in Gaza.. They want us to leave so they can rearm themselves and then attack us again.. I will not accept this."
Netanyahu also launched a harsh attack on the Hebrew media, which accuses his government of hindering reaching an agreement in Gaza, saying: "They always echo Hamas propaganda, but they are always wrong."
Meanwhile, Steve Wytkoff, President Donald Trump's envoy to the Middle East, said he is "optimistic" about the ceasefire negotiations in Gaza between Hamas and Israel.
Wytkoff told reporters in Teterboro, New Jersey, that he plans to meet with senior Qatari officials on the sidelines of the FIFA Club World Cup final.
In the meantime, the indirect negotiation sessions ongoing in Doha between Hamas and Israel continued on Friday, mediated by Qatar and Egypt, and the talks had started last Sunday.
Channel 12 Hebrew reported based on an Israeli and a Qatari source, that no progress has been made in the talks.
According to the same source, Hamas agreed to expand the buffer zone that will remain under Israeli control during the truce to one kilometer, but it refused Israel's presence in Rafah extending 3 kilometers from the border, and more than one kilometer in other areas.
