The Vice President of the Amman Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Nabil Al-Khatib, confirmed that the Chamber has been deeply concerned with the incident of the ASL BAUHINIA ship fire since the moment it occurred. The Chamber promptly began an accurate and direct follow-up of the case details, ensuring to track the ship's route and determine the port where it docked, aiming to obtain accurate and comprehensive information about the incident and its impact on Jordanian traders.
According to a statement by the Chamber today, Saturday, Al-Khatib explained that the Chamber held a series of meetings with the affected traders, quickly responded to the repercussions of the incident, and formed a joint committee with the victims to follow up on this file from all aspects, ensuring to proceed in the correct legal path that guarantees the recovery of the affected traders' rights.
In this context, the Chamber consulted with its legal advisors, who have long experience, and they recommended three international law firms specializing in maritime cases. The victims' committee chose the international law firm BLK from among them to handle the legal aspects of the case, in cooperation with other international legal offices specializing in maritime affairs.
The Chamber also coordinated a meeting that brought together the affected traders and representatives from the BLK office, with the presence of committee members and the Chamber’s legal advisors, where a clear roadmap for litigation procedures, authorization mechanisms, and necessary legal steps was discussed.
Al-Khatib emphasized that the affected traders later officially authorized the international law firm BLK after receiving a detailed explanation from the office representatives about the nature of the case, its procedures, and the expected legal outcomes.
Al-Khatib also stressed that the Amman Chamber of Commerce prioritizes fair trader issues at the core of its agenda and follows them with all responsibility and seriousness, stemming from its national and institutional role in supporting the commercial sector and protecting members' interests.
For their part, representatives of the international law firm BLK, during the meeting organized by the Amman Chamber of Commerce, explained that the office would manage the litigation file before the competent international judicial bodies, following a comprehensive legal strategy that takes into account the nature of maritime cases and their complexities. They confirmed that the office has extensive experience in such cases and a wide network of partnerships with maritime law firms around the world.
They indicated that the office would commence work immediately upon completion of the official authorization procedures, assuring their commitment to providing periodic reports on the progress of the case and ensuring the highest levels of transparency in legal proceedings.
They also provided a complete explanation of the adopted fee system, which was detailed to the affected traders, ensuring transparency in the contractual relationship and helping build trust between the parties without imposing any vague obligations on the victims.
At the end of the meeting, the international law firm BLK answered all the questions and inquiries of the affected traders, where the office representatives ensured to clarify all legal and procedural aspects of the case, reaffirming their commitment to continuous communication with the victims and providing necessary legal support at different stages of litigation.
