Khaberni -

Khbrani - Jordanian exports to Syria made a significant leap during the first quarter of 2025, with an increase of about 489% compared to the same period last year, driven by the signing of new economic agreements and a notable improvement in trade relations between the two countries. The value of exports reached about 52.78 million dinars, compared to 9.49 million dinars in the first quarter of 2023.

This remarkable rise comes amid intensive official efforts to enhance cooperation between Amman and Damascus, especially in the fields of trade, transport, energy, and water, along with new facilitations in the movement of shipments through the Jaber – Nassib crossing, and an expansion of the list of goods allowed to cross to the Syrian market. Cement topped the list of Jordanian exports, indicating Jordan's increasing role in supporting reconstruction projects in Syria.

The first deputy president of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, Jamal Al-Rifai, confirmed that the recent agreements between the two sides represent a strategic step towards economic integration that serves the interests of both countries. He also revealed plans to establish a higher coordination council between Jordan and Syria to institutionalize joint cooperation and develop it in various sectors.

On the other hand, Jordanian imports from Syria fell to 12.9 million dinars during the first quarter of the year, compared to 13.6 million dinars in the same period from 2024, which helped to enhance the trade balance surplus in favor of Jordan. The value of goods re-exported from Jordan to Syria also increased to 31.23 million dinars, compared to 25.6 million dinars in the first quarter of the previous year.
