Tell me - The Minister of Interior, Mazen Al-Faraya, and the Director of Public Security Major General Dr. Obaidullah Al-Maaytah visited today, Thursday, the Addiction Treatment Center affiliated with the Drug Enforcement Administration.
They were briefed on the efforts expended in the field of medical, therapeutic, and social services that the center provides to everyone wishing to treat drug toxins.
During the visit, Al-Faraya emphasized the importance of following the royal directives to intensify national efforts and enhance cooperation between concerned entities in combating drug menace and curbing its spread, and encouraging addicts to help them overcome their addiction.
The minister praised the pioneering and social role undertaken by the General Directorate of Public Security in establishing a specialized addiction treatment center, providing advanced therapeutic and psychological services to addicts, in addition to follow-up programs and aftercare for those who received free treatment and at the expense of Public Security, believing in the importance of creating such therapeutic clinics for drug addicts.
He expressed his appreciation for the systems and facilities contained in the center and the absolute confidentiality of the treatment procedures, which contribute to encouraging individuals and their families to voluntarily come forward for treatment, without legal consequences, which enhances the chances of recovery and reintegration into society anew.
For his part, the Director of Public Security, Major General Dr. Obaidullah Al-Maaytah, affirmed the continuation of the Directorate's field, educational, and therapeutic efforts, within the national strategy to combat drugs.
Pointing out that the directorate works integrally with various institutions to provide the necessary support to the center, ensuring the continuity of its duties and providing its services according to the highest international standards.
He pointed out that the General Directorate of Public Security continues its social and humanitarian responsibilities and places the establishment of two new addiction treatment centers in the North and South regions, as well as the creation of special treatment centers within correction and rehabilitation centers similar to the Birin Correction and Rehabilitation Center, as a top priority.
The Minister Al-Faraya toured the treatment center and was briefed on the therapeutic, rehabilitation, and recreational facilities within it, and listened to a briefing presented by the Director of Drug Enforcement Administration on the working mechanisms in the center, treatment, and rehabilitation programs, and the stages that an addict undergoes until recovery, confirming that the center has provided its services to hundreds of cases, and contributed to improving the reality of many families.
