During the first outage, users faced difficulties logging in, sending requests, and accessing chat histories, while developers reported increased error rates and API requests failures.
After a temporary improvement and a brief resumption of service, the three OpenAI services experienced a second wave of disruptions before beginning to stabilize again.
OpenAI confirmed via its service status page that it was investigating the issue and implementing measures to mitigate its effects before later announcing that the restoration process was complete and all affected services had returned to normal operation.
The outage sparked a broad wave of reports on the fault-tracking platform "Downdetector", where thousands of users reported issues with using "ChatGPT", while there were fewer reports about failures of the "Codex" programming tool and the APIs.
