Maariv Hebrew Implementing the Framework Agreement Requires a Civil War in Lebanon

Khaberni - Political sources in Tel Aviv disclosed the presence of assessments that believe the framework of the agreement with Lebanon leans in favor of Israel, by imposing highly complex conditions on the Lebanese government, which could lead to the continuation of the Israeli military presence in southern Lebanon, and open doors for the intervention of European and regional forces in a later stage to rearrange the conditions in the country, according to Hebrew media reports.

The Hebrew newspaper Maariv reported today, Monday, that the framework agreement with Lebanon was crafted in a "tight" manner, noting that the clauses set by President Donald Trump's administration in coordination with Israel include terms that are difficult for the Lebanese side to implement.

The newspaper considered that this provides Israel with an international cover to continue its military operations or maintain a security zone, while holding Lebanon responsible for dealing with Hezbollah's infrastructure.

The sources added that the internal disturbances in Lebanon linked to the agreement with Israel are viewed, according to this assessment, as a factor that could encourage foreign interventions, considering that any severe internal crisis may prompt international and regional powers to intervene and establish new arrangements in the country.

The newspaper mentioned that these assessments predict that escalating internal tensions might open the door to dangerous scenarios, in case of widespread confrontations or major disturbances.

The newspaper also referred to an analysis by orientalist Moshe Elad, during an interview with radio 104.5 in northern Israel, where he mentioned that the end of wars in Lebanon usually accompanies increased chances of international powers intervening, including European countries and Turkey, to impose new stability arrangements, in comparison with similar cases in other parts of the world.
