Khaberni - Days after his injury in a horrific car accident, Egyptian artist Mohamed Marzaban passed away this Wednesday morning at Abu Khalifa Hospital in Ismailia Governorate, at the age of 64.
Dr. Ashraf Zaki, the head of the Acting Professions Syndicate, announced the news of the death, stating in press remarks that arrangements for the funeral were underway, including coordinating the transfer of the body to Cairo.
Mohamed Marzaban had a severe car accident on the Cairo-Ismailia road east of Cairo, Saturday evening, when a speeding car collided with him while he was riding his motorcycle, resulting in the motorcycle being smashed and Marzaban sustaining serious injuries, before ambulance cars rushed him to the emergency care at Abu Khalifa Hospital in a very critical and unstable health condition.
Coma, fractures and brain hemorrhage
The preliminary medical examinations revealed that he entered into a complete coma, with suspected fractures in the spinal column and cervical vertebrae, bleeding from the mouth and nose, in addition to suspected internal bleeding in the brain, abdomen, and chest, and scattered abrasions across his body.
The injured actor's wife had requested his transfer to Cairo for further treatment, but the treating medical team advised that it was crucial to keep him at Ismailia Hospital, affirming that any movement at this time represents "a dire threat to his life" before his vital signs stabilize.
Dr. Mohamed Gabril, president of the Health Care Authority in Ismailia, said on Sunday, during a television interview, that artist Mohamed Marzaban suffers from a deterioration in consciousness level, brain hemorrhage, and a fractured skull base.
He also suffers from blood clots in the lungs, fractures in several ribs, various fractures across the body, and abdominal bleeding, adding that he had been placed on artificial respiration.
His artistic career
It is worth mentioning that Marzaban began his artistic career in the early nineties, noted for portraying businessmen and aristocratic characters, leaving a mark in prominent cinematic and dramatic works, including the films "Kashf Al-Mastoor" and "Al-Belyatcho", and series "Where is My Heart?", "Against the Current", and "Temporary Name".
His most recent work is the series "Ward Ala Fol We Yasmeen" currently being shown on the MBC Shahid platform, starring Suba Mubarak, Ahmed Abdelwahab, Salwa Mohamed Ali, and Mimi Gamal, written by Amr Samir Atef, and directed by Mohamed Abdel Tawab.
