Khaberni - On Tuesday, the Supreme Council for Media Regulation in Egypt issued a decisive decision obliging all visual, auditory, readable, and electronic media outlets to ban media personality and screenwriter Mohamed El-Gheity from appearing for a full month.
This decision followed proven “professional and legal grave violations that affect the ethical standards of the news community” by the program "Al Basma" broadcasted on “Al Shams” satellite channel.
The direct background leading to the issuance this punitive decision was the content of the episode of the program "Al Basma" broadcast on June 10th, which involved a violation of the sanctity of the private life of the late artist Abdel Aziz Mekhyoun, discussing his personal life in a manner contrary to media norms that protect the rights of individuals and deceased artistic icons, and prevent insult to their privacy and their families.
The council based its decision of punishment on a precise technical report issued by the General Administration for Monitoring at the Supreme Council for Media Regulation, which proved, with evidence, the violations of the episode to the clauses and provisions of the media regulation law.
Under this decision, the scope of the ban extends to prohibiting the appearance of the media personality Mohamed El-Gheity and preventing the presentation of his programs on any media or journalistic platform throughout the duration of the penalty, which is thirty days.
The veteran Egyptian actor Abdel Aziz Mekhyoun had died last Wednesday at the age of 83 in one of the hospitals in Alexandria, where he was receiving treatment following a severe health setback.
