Khaberni - American President Donald Trump announced this Monday evening the signing of the anticipated agreement between the United States and Iran.
Trump said following his arrival at the French city of Evian to attend the G7 summit, that the Strait of Hormuz will be fully opened on Friday, noting that "it is important for oil prices to decrease and stocks to rise" thereafter.
Trump reaffirmed that Iran "will not have nuclear weapons."
He emphasized that "there will be no easing of sanctions on Iran until it does what is required of it," noting that the text of the agreement will be published after Friday.
On the other hand, the American President said that the United States will consider whether it can fix the situation in Lebanon.
He mentioned that his deputy, JD Vance, will participate in the signing ceremony, while Trump "may participate in the signing and may not."
The announcement came after a senior American official told "Reuters," that Trump, his deputy, and the Iranian parliament speaker Mohammed Baqer Qalibaf, signed a memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran.
The official explained that the agreement stipulates the immediate opening of the Strait of Hormuz and the lifting of the American blockade on Iran.
He added that traffic in the strait will witness a noticeable increase from now on.
He said, "The memorandum of understanding with Iran explicitly states that the Strait of Hormuz will remain open without fees for 60 days," and "the United States expects free passage to be part of the final agreement as well."
The official mentioned that the details of the agreement would be published within a day or two.
Regarding the agreement with Iran, the official said: "Technical discussions will be launched later this week."
However, he emphasized that "the lifting of the funds freeze and easing of sanctions on Iran are contingent upon its performance."
On the other hand, the American official reported that the United States intends to maintain the current status of its military forces during the next phase of negotiations with Iran.
He confirmed that the agreement "provides for considering military force reduction when a final agreement is reached."
He said that the United States "is ready to release frozen funds and ease sanctions, and might undertake some small initiatives initially."
He considered that "easing of sanctions is not linked to any specific behavior, but to Iran acting appropriately."
However, he stressed that Washington "wants to see Tehran take verifiable and irreversible steps."
In a related context, the official confirmed that Israel's withdrawal from Lebanon is not a condition for completing the agreement with Iran.
He mentioned that "Israel will have the right to defend itself against attacks by Hezbollah," the Lebanese group backed by Iran.
