Iran Prepares for Grand Funeral of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei

Khaberni  - After a delay imposed by the war, Iran is preparing to hold a grand funeral for the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was assassinated in the first American-Israeli raids on Tehran on February 28th.

In this context, the state-run Iranian TV quoted the head of Tehran's Islamic Propaganda Coordination Council, Mohsen Mahmoudi, as saying that a special headquarters was formed to prepare for the funeral ceremonies, without specifying an official date for them.

Mahmoudi explained, quoting the television, that several organizations are working to prepare the necessary conditions to allow holding grand ceremonies once the official announcement of the funeral is made, anticipating large crowds to participate in it.

In April, thousands of Iranians commemorated the 40th day since the passing of the previous Supreme Leader, but the official funeral, originally announced, was not conducted due to military confrontation conditions.

Khamenei led the Islamic Republic for more than three decades, and he was succeeded by his son Mojtaba Khamenei in the position of the Supreme Leader, who was also injured in those strikes and has not made any public appearance since taking office.
