Tehran Accuses Washington of Continuing Maritime Blockade Despite Announcement of Its Lifting

Khaberni - Mohsen Rezaie, advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader, said that US President Donald Trump "betrays diplomacy for the third time" by continuing what he described as the "maritime blockade" and presenting "exaggerated demands".

Tasnim News Agency quoted Iranian sources stating that the American maritime blockade is still in effect, indicating that the US Central Command issued warnings to Iranian ships, informing them to stop and preventing their passage.

The agency added, quoting sailors, that Iranian ships attempted to cross what was described as the "blockade line" after US President Donald Trump announced its lifting, but they faced American warnings.

US President Donald Trump stated on Friday that Iran must agree to never possess a weapon or nuclear bomb "ever", emphasizing the immediate necessity of opening the Strait of Hormuz to shipping traffic in both directions "without any transit fees".

Trump added on the Truth Social platform that all sea mines, if found, will be removed, noting that the United States has already "detonated a large number of them" using American naval minesweepers, and that Iran will undertake the removal or detonation of any remaining mines.

He indicated that the maritime blockade on Iran will be lifted, and ships stuck in the strait due to what he described as the "amazing and unprecedented maritime blockade" can start returning, adding a message to the sailors inviting them to convey his greetings to their families.
