Khaberni - Fishermen from the Egyptian city of Qusayr were successful in catching a "Mako" shark 3 meters long after its appearance near the beach, amid procedures to examine it.
The appearance of a shark near one of the beaches of the city of Qusayr in the southern Red Sea caused a state of concern among the local people and beachgoers, before a number of fishermen managed to control it and catch it without any injuries occurring among the citizens.
Local sources revealed that the caught shark belongs to the "Mako" species, measures about 3 meters, and is male, which likely approached the shallow areas in search of food, prompting the competent authorities to quickly move to monitor the situation.

The shark is scheduled to be transferred to the Institute of Marine Sciences and Fisheries in the city of Hurghada, to conduct the necessary scientific examinations and to confirm the reasons for its presence near the beach, in addition to studying its environmental and behavioral condition.
A number of Qusayr residents immediately reported the shark to the environmental authorities upon spotting it near swimming areas, especially as the incident coincided with a high presence of citizens and visitors on the beach during the recent days.

Environmental sources confirmed that the "Mako" shark is not classified as highly dangerous compared to some other species, noting that its appearance in the waters near the shore could be linked to environmental changes or the availability of food sources in that area.
In the same context, marine science specialists explained that the Red Sea is rich in marine life, hosting a variety of shark species that play an important role in the marine ecological balance, in addition to being a main attraction for diving tourism in the region.
