Khaberni - Ayman Badadwa, head of the Parliamentary Services and Transport Committee, confirmed on Wednesday that the passenger fare in the kingdom has not seen any increase for 8 years, noting that the last fare increase was made under exceptional circumstances the kingdom is experiencing.
Badadwa explained during statements to the "Kingdom" channel that the fare adjustment was made gradually and took into consideration the reality of the transport sector and the needs of citizens, pointing out that the focus was on mass transport modes, especially large buses.
He illustrated that the increase was distributed over two phases, where the rate of raise reached 75% amounting to 5 piasters on some routes, and 25% amounting to 10 piasters on other routes, confirming that these measures were taken to face current challenges and ensure the continuity of transport services.
