Khaberni - Deputy Randa Al-Khazouz called on the government to include increases in the salaries of employees and retirees in the draft General Budget Law for 2027, in light of the preparation of the first budget statement, stressing the necessity of adopting a clear policy that enhances social justice and considers living challenges.
Al-Khazouz said in an official memo addressed to the Prime Minister on behalf of the Initiative Parliamentary Bloc, which was reviewed by the Khaberni website, that economic indicators in recent years have shown a rise in living costs and a decline in purchasing power, necessitating direct intervention to improve the income levels of public sector workers and civilian and military retirees.
She emphasized that any economic reform path is incomplete without fair and sustainable treatment of citizens' incomes, which contributes to preserving the middle class and enhancing its stability.
Al-Khazouz called for allocating clear provisions for raising salaries in line with inflation rates, adopting a fair mechanism that considers the lower-income groups, in addition to linking future increases to clear economic indicators that ensure financial sustainability.
She also stressed the importance of revisiting the structure of salaries and allowances to enhance efficiency and productivity, along with conducting a comprehensive financial impact study to ensure that financial stability indicators are not compromised.
She pointed out that this step represents an investment in social and economic stability and enhances trust between the citizen and state institutions, expressing the bloc’s readiness to cooperate with the government in discussing these proposals.
