Axios Military Leaders to Brief Trump on New Options Regarding Iran

Khaberni - Axios reported on Wednesday that U.S. President Donald Trump will receive a briefing from the commander of U.S. Central Command, Brad Cooper, about new plans for potential military action in Iran.

According to the report, which was based on anonymous sources, the briefing will take place today, Thursday. The White House did not immediately comment.

The site reported that U.S. Central Command has prepared a plan for a "short and robust" series of strikes on Iran, likely targeting infrastructure.

The report added that Washington hopes to make Iran more flexible at the negotiating table regarding the nuclear file.

The report noted that another plan expected to be presented to Trump focuses on controlling part of the Strait of Hormuz to reopen it to commercial navigation, and mentioned that this operation may involve ground forces.

The site also mentioned that another option to be discussed during the briefing relates to a special forces operation to secure Iran's stockpile of highly enriched uranium.

The site also reported that the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dan Kien, is expected to attend the briefing today, Thursday.
