Khaberni - An Egyptian court upheld the verdict to prepare a man who killed his friend using a diabolical trick to lure him for stealing his belongings and his "tuk-tuk".
The Alexandria Criminal Court of Appeal, on Wednesday, affirmed the first-instance court's decision to refer the papers of the accused "M.M.A.", a vegetable trader, to the Grand Mufti of the Republic for a legal opinion on his execution, and scheduled a session next month to pronounce the verdict.
The accused was convicted of killing his friend "H.A.S" after poisoning him with poison in a box of "Koshari" food, then seized his "tuk-tuk".
The events of the case date back to 2024, after the police received a report from the locals about finding a body dumped in the middle of the agriculture area in Al-Amiriya, and investigations revealed that the accused had lured the victim by making him believe there was a job opportunity, then bought him food in which he had placed a toxic substance obtained from an agricultural pesticide shop.
Investigations indicated that after the accused arrived with his companion at a remote place and signs of unconsciousness appeared on the victim, he strangled him with a rope until he confirmed his death, then threw his body among the bushes and stole his "tuk-tuk" and fled.
The police identified the accused after listening to witnesses and analyzing surveillance cameras, uncovering the details of the crime, and the prosecution decided to refer him to the criminal court which issued the death sentence.
