Jordan Ministry of Labor 63 cases of child labor detected since the beginning of 2026

Khaberni - The head of the child labor inspection department at the Ministry of Labor, Haifa Darwish, said that the ministry carried out 941 visits to various establishments during the first quarter of the current year to monitor child labor cases and reduce them, resulting in the detection of 24 violations and the issuance of 66 warnings to the offending employers.

Darwish added in statements to "Al Mamlaka" channel that during those tours, 63 cases of child laborers were discovered in the labor market, and the necessary legal actions were taken against the violators.

She pointed out that the Ministry of Labor is moving towards developing a new electronic monitoring system to monitor child labor cases in Jordan, which will connect the ministry with the Family and Juvenile Protection Management at the Public Security Directorate, in addition to the Ministry of Social Development, based on the child protection system of 2024.

She explained that there is coordination and linking between all relevant entities in the child labor file, based on the juvenile protection system number 36 of 2004, which obliges all related entities, including labor inspectors, to mandatorily report child labor cases to the Family and Juvenile Protection Management at the Public Security Directorate.

She confirmed that this linkage and networking will contribute to creating a unified database for monitoring child labor cases, and facilitate their follow-up by the Ministry of Social Development, which plays the most significant role in managing the cases, and providing necessary services for the working children and their families, whether social, educational, or economic, with the aim of reintegrating them into education and keeping them away from the labor market.
