Omans Foreign Minister I had a fruitful discussion with Araghchi about Hormuz

Khaberni  - Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi announced on Sunday that he had a "fruitful discussion" with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi about the Strait of Hormuz.

Albusaidi wrote on his account on the platform "X" that he stressed to Araghchi the "urgent humanitarian need to free the trapped sailors" in the Strait of Hormuz. The Omani Foreign Minister added that he confirmed to his Iranian counterpart the need to find solutions to ensure freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

He continued: "As coastal states, we recognize our shared responsibility towards the international community," emphasizing the "need for much diplomacy and practical solutions to ensure permanent freedom of navigation" in the Strait of Hormuz.

Sultan of Oman, Haitham bin Tariq, received the Iranian Foreign Minister on Sunday. During the meeting, they consulted on the latest developments in the region, and mediation efforts aimed at ending the current conflict.

Sultan Haitham stressed the importance of prioritizing dialogue and diplomacy in addressing issues, as it contributes to establishing the foundations of peace.

Araghchi listened to the views of Sultan Haitham on ways to promote mediation efforts, enhancing the chances for reaching sustainable political solutions, and mitigating the impact of crises on the people of the region.

For his part, Araghchi expressed Iran's appreciation for Oman’s stance in supporting dialogue efforts and enhancing peace and stability initiatives in the region, especially in light of the current regional challenges, according to the Omani News Agency.
