Khaberni - The UAE affirmed that the Iranian assaults on it and the countries of the region are not limited to disrupting security and regional stability, but also extend to undermining innovation opportunities and weakening the international cooperation system.
According to the Emirates News Agency "WAM," today, Monday, this was stated in a speech delivered by Ambassador Jamal Al Musharakh, the Permanent Representative of the UAE to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva, during the extraordinary session of the assemblies of the member states at the World Intellectual Property Organization, held in Geneva.
Al Musharakh emphasized that "these attacks directly threaten the development models based on innovation and openness, including the UAE's model which is based on openness, innovation, and international cooperation," noting at the same time the UAE's ongoing commitment to enhancing the intellectual property system as a fundamental driver for achieving sustainable development.
He pointed out that undermining regional stability negatively reflects on the investment flows in the knowledge economy, limits opportunities for cooperation in the fields of technology and creativity, and weakens the trust which is fundamental for the protection of intellectual property at the international level, explaining that intellectual property represents a vital bridge for cooperation, and a fundamental element in enabling knowledge-based and innovative economies.
He stressed that the UAE continues its commitment to enhancing the intellectual property system, supporting innovators, and developing an environment conducive to creativity in parallel with its efforts aimed at protecting regional stability and consolidating security.
Al Musharakh clarified that the UAE continues its firm support for creators and innovators while enhancing its partnership with the World Intellectual Property Organization and its member states, contributing to the efforts of sustainable development.
He congratulated Daren Tang on his re-election as the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization for a second term of six years, praising the progress made by the organization under his leadership, particularly in establishing the role of innovation and intellectual property at the core of global development efforts.
The UAE reiterated its emphasis on the importance of strengthening multilateral work, encouraging constructive dialogue, and prioritizing peaceful solutions as the only way to achieve security, stability, and prosperity for all.
It is noted that the Arab Gulf states and Jordan were subject to attacks from Iran after Israel and the United States launched attacks on it on the twenty-eighth of February last year, which caused damage to its facilities and infrastructure, thereby violating international laws and treaties.
